‘Tis the season: to sell your house!
Yes, Virginia, there is a real estate season, and you are in it starting now!
Busy and not-so-busy
Traditionally there is a busy season and a not so busy season when it comes to marketing your home for sale. If fact there are two of each.
When the Winter blahs finally give way to the anticipation of Spring, people come out from their hibernation and start to spruce up the home for the big sale. Each year the season kicks into gear sometime near the end of February and picks up a big head of steam until late June.
Not always as it appears
The thing is, people want to have their homes sold by the end of June and moving into the new one after school has finished for the summer break. The general thought that things are busy during the summer is a bit of a misconception. All of those moving vans running around are a result of the sales that were negotiated during the spring rush.
The markets pretty much slow right down for the summer months as vacations take a higher priority.
And then comes Labour Day!
The kids go back to school, vacation time is over, and it’s time to get serious again.
September is the start of the next big rush that lasts all autumn until the end of November. Once December hits, things slow down and we go back into the Winter hibernation, awaiting Spring once again.
So, to review…
Busy Seasons: End of February to the end of June. Labour Day to the end of November
Slow Seasons: July and August. December into February.
