Is your Realtor giving you the service you deserve?

The statistics show that on average, a person will sell their home every 4 to 7 years.

That means going through the process of trying to find a quality Realtor, preparing the house for sale, finding the new place, and dealing with everything else that comes with the adventure. This really is a big deal, and not something to take lightly. You want the best person or people in your corner.

But what if that doesn’t happen, or at least not to your expectations?

First off, look back at why you chose your Realtor in the first place.

You deserve the best service from your Realtor. John Deak of Royal LaPage Vernon BC offers you a no-hassle cancellation if he doesn't live up to yours. Was it because of previous experience? A great referral? A glossy ad campaign? A freebie giveaway?

No matter what drew you to this person or people, you had a reason and a level of expectation when it comes to service and competency. You are trusting that the sale of what is possibly your biggest asset is going to be dealt with in a professional manner.

Misunderstandings can happen, and problems can arise.

If you aren’t happy with your Realtor’s performance, what do you do?

Call the Realtor! Explain what the issue is, and what sort of result you would like to see. The issue might not be something that is in the control of the Realtor. If it is, how do they deal with it? If it is not to your satisfaction, and no resolution seems to be on the horizon, perhaps a change in representation is in order.

All too often I will hear about so and so, who did this and that, and there is no way that person is ever going to get their business again. That’s it. WE ARE SO DONE!

The next day they sign a 6 month extension on their listing contract with the same Realtor. Really?

As a homeowner, you are able to work with anyone you choose, and there are many good choices out there. You don’t have to work with the same person as before. It may have been a clash of personalities. A boatload of false promises, or even a simple misunderstanding, that is something both parties can’t work through.

If that is the case, please don’t go around bad mouthing the Realtor, and claiming incompetence, only to sign back up again.

Make the change! Find a new set of eyes and legs to work on your behalf.

I offer a 24 hour cancellation of the listing contract for any reason. If you’re not happy with my service, let me know. If I can’t fix the problem, let me go! I’m happy to say that nobody has taken me up on this.

So, what’s my point with all of this? Stand up and be counted! You are expecting quality service, and you have the right to get it. If you aren’t at the moment, it is out there. You don’t have to live with the pain you know….just because it’s become convenient.
